Adam and Emmy met in Oakland, CA in Sept, 2015 – 10 years to the date of our wedding celebration! Two east coast transplants that fell in love with Northern California now were looking for romantic love in their favorite place.
After exchanging messages on a dating app, their first meeting instantly struck them both. Instantly they had so many discussion topics to connect over. They have a shared love of the arts, with deep interest in a wide variety of music. They also enjoyed learning about each other's areas of focus, with Emmy interested in literature and poetry and Adam entrenched in visual arts and film. Both of them immediately told a close friend that they had just met someone out of the ordinary, and spoke of their intuition that this meeting would be very consequential for their futures!
What followed in the years to come was a seemingly endless exchange of conversation, adoration, and shared values. They continued to bond over their shared love of hiking the local trails and visiting parks and cities all over California. They treasure their memories visiting places like Sonoma, Napa, Yosemite, Big Sur, Sequoia, Ojai, Guerneville, Gualala, Los Angeles, San Diego, Monterey, Carmel, and Santa Barbara. They’ve attended many concerts from their favorite artists at venues like The Independent and The Flllmore. They have enjoyed rich community and connection with their beloved friends in the area as well as visiting friends abroad.
When 2023 arrived, the couple had been working so hard that they decided that a truly relaxing vacation was needed. They booked a week at a resort in Mexico to rest and recover. Adam, having secured a family heirloom engagement ring that his parents had saved for him, realized that this was the moment. With time to catch up with their thoughts away from the hustle and bustle, they could focus on how to celebrate their love, both looking forward to the future, and looking back at what they had already accomplished as a couple. He hired a local photographer to follow them to a “secluded beach for couples photos” in Playa Del Carmen. To the couple’s surprise, the beach was far from secluded, there were at least 100 locals there enjoying their Sunday. Despite the very intense spotlight of proposing there, they felt determination, and the couple got engaged in front of a cheering crowd of strangers.
Now the couple is thrilled to invite our friends and family to celebrate our previous 10 years of their love and many more to come!
